About Jesse Owens Museum

As you enter the park, you can visit the Welcome Center where you can pick up a map to help you tour the park. The welcome center is staffed during limited hours of operation if you need assistance while visiting the park.

Inside the Welcome Center are some of Jesse Owens’ personal items that were donated by his wife, Ruth. There is also an autographed Jesse Owens poster when he represented Lincoln-Mercury. The donor found it in a dormitory on the University of Alabama campus in the 1970s.

The Welcome Center is actually a restored home. Originally built in 1896, the home was donated to the park by the Carl Warren family, moved and renovated.
